Dear Jim Steinman,
As this yearbook is meant to be a gift for your birthday, let me thank you for the gift that your music has been over the last 23 years.
Perhaps you'll remember me - I am the guy who, at the press conference one day before the opening night of "Tanz der Vampire" in Stuttgart, told you that I have been a devoted fan of your music since the very first time I heard the very first chords of "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth" in 1977 and furthermore, that "Bad For Good" has been the soundtrack of my summer of '81.
You then asked me if it was a good summer and I told you that it was indeed and that I went windsurfing almost every day. What I forgot to tell you and what was certainly much more important, is the fact, that in the summer of '81, I for the first time had sex, you know, the real stuff. I had visited this girlfriend of mine who was - and is - a very big fan of your music too, and we'd listen to "Bad For Good" which I had bought the day before. Well, as they say, the rest is history...
This serves as a very good example of how important your music has been for me for now almost a quarter century. There are little glimpses of the past linked to almost every song of yours, good times and bad times, and come to think of it, it wouldn't be to much of an exaggeration to say that your music has been the soundtrack of my hole past-childhood life.
For this, I thank you. Please accept my congratulations for your birthday and please: Continue your good work. I look forward to "Batman - The Musical" and eventually "Neverland".
Sincerely,
Andreas Heinzgen
