Happy Birthday Jim!
Finally, after years of hearing you speak to me through your music, I have the ability to speak to you. It is nearly impossible to describe the power that resides in your music. Every song evoking the deepest emotions: passion, longing, sorrow, power, and love.
I was only 12 years old when Bat Out of Hell II wasreleased. When I heard the music, I was shocked at how "big" the music was. I listened to it over and over, trying to understand every lyric and trying to feel every beat. I cranked up the volume as high as it would go, so that I could be "in" the music. I still don't know if there is a better feeling than that. . . not even sex. Well. . . let me think about that one.
It didn't take long for me to collect every piece of work you've done. . . from Meat Loaf to Bad for Good to Bonnie Tyler to Fire Inc. to Pandora's Box to Celine Dion to The Dream Engine to .... you know what I mean, I collected it all. No matter what the song was, I was never disappointed. I am always looking forward to what you might create.
Now I'm 17 and I feel as though I am exactly what you write about. Getting in a car and just feeling the speed, knowing that this is what it means to be young. I will forever cherish your music, and you have my unlimited gratitude. To quote "Rock and Roll Dreams," you, Jim, truly did bless us when you gave us those songs.
Thank you.
