The way I've slaved and agonised over what words to add, you'd think *I* was trying to compose a musical! Alas, the perfect words still evade me as they have for the last 7 months.

I'm afraid that I'm devoid of the glorious tales of how your music saved my life or how that 'one song' led me to true love or suddenly made the world all make sense. But rather, as dull as it may sound, at about 17 when "Bat Out of Hell" was released, I became thoroughly enamoured with you and the sheer genius of your magical lyrics and powerful, achingly beautiful melodies.

In all of these years, I've always kept sight of you and your projects and marvelled at how merely finding your name in print or stumbling on a photo can still leave me catching my breath--touching me in a way that I'd otherwise think too jaded to feel. You give me hope, you give me fantasy--you make it seem inconceivable as to how the world could possible embody  the same
vibrant colours without you -- how it could exist at all. You haunt, you possess, you permeate dreams in such a surrealistic fashion. So even though I have no lifesaving tales to credit you with, the dimensions which you've added to my life have certainly made it much more worthwhile. You are and always will be one of the most precious things to me. I truly regret that I can never return the favour.

My birthday wish to you is that somewhere in your life may you find that magic which you have given to so many of us.

Lots of love-- maybe I can't have you, but I'll never forget you. Thanks for so much.

Happy Birthday!
Leesa Johnson

Photo Credits!!!! First, that's me in the horse pasture counting milkweeds to pull. Next, the dog. Bull Terriers have been my life for over 26 years. I'm the Legislative chair for the Bull Terrier Club of America and their main midwestern rescue person. The dog here (other than being my biggest contribution to rock!!), Elvis (Gallytrot's Guy at Graceland), was from my last litter in 1993. His family adores him and sent me his 'publicity shot' which has been featured all over. It's fitting I suppose that Spuds Mackenzie's breeder and I are good friends--neither of our exploited prodgeny gave us compensation!!
