Pamela McKee,
Los Angeles, CA, USA
The past 12 months of my life have been far more complicated and confusing than any I can remember. I was forced in to decisions I never wanted to make and changes I didn't want accept. Within a relatively short time, I became a stranger in my own life and lost in my own world. Almost everything that was familiar and comforting to me no longer existed as I knew it, and at times I was afraid of what I'd become. However, as difficult as the past year may have been, I have also discovered many wonderful and remarkable things. Not only within myself, but also in where I came from and in what direction I want to go.
One such remarkable discovery was in that of your music.
Although music has always had a profound effect on me, I was in no way prepared for what I was about to experience. I say experience because in all honesty, I didn't hear a single word, nor a single note. It was something I felt in my heart and in my soul. Emotions that I'd locked away for most of my life came so swift and unexpectedly, all I could do was cry. These tears didn't surface due to sorrow or loss. They weren't tears of loneliness or regret. These were old tears that lay deep in my soul. Tears of relief and emancipation. A realization that "the future ain't what it used to be." For that I am grateful to you.
With the warmest of birthday wishes, I also want to thank you for the reminder that it's okay to let go of the black and white and dream in color again.
Happy Birthday Jim!
