Hi Jim,

Happy birthday.

Why don't I tell you a little about how I got to know about you and your music. As opposed to many other stories mine begins with hearing your name instead of your music. It all happened an evening at my uncles house, when he was showing of the artwork on "Bad for good". I remember thinking that the music was probably not in my taste, but I thought the name "Jim Steinman" sounded kinda cool. Then "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was released and I keep hearing "the song is written by Jim Steinman" on the radio and I thought that there must something about the guy if they keep mentioning him instead of Bonnie Tyler. I vividly remember hearing "Faster Than the Speed of Light" very early on a Sunday morning and thinking that I had never heard anything quite like it and later educting a friend who had "The Best of Bonnie Tyler", that the best songs was the ones written by that Steinman dude.
I also remember seeing "Streets of Fire" and hearing "Tonight...." and thinking "hey that's got to be Jim Steinman" and went out and bought BOOH, BFG and Deadringer and the rest is history. I used to think that your biggest strength were in your lyrics and your arrangements, but "Tanz der vampire" ensured me that you're also a true musical genious. That's got to be the best thing ever created in music.
